Thank you for not assuming that the rest of the world knows what measurement a “stick” is.

Thank you for posting this! I find that adding Fresh Lemon Zest to anything I’m trying to Lemon-Ize works really well too.

I got a bottle of Rum flavoring in the mark down bin at the super market…. and someone posted a delicious looking Hawaiian Coconut Cake recipe on here last week, I think they would pair well. Rum frosting and Coconut Cake Mmmmmmmm!

Here’s a super easy recipe for making different flavors of keto cream cheese icing. I love using this frosting in whoopie pies and cupcakes. Only takes minutes. Let me know if you have other flavors to add!

    * Red food coloring as needed

    ## INSTRUCTIONS

    1. In a medium-sized bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese together with a mixer until fully combined. It helps if the butter and cream cheese have softened some before doing this (you can zap them in the microwave for 15 seconds to help)
    2. OPTIONAL: If you are using a granulated sweetener, throw it into a blender or food processor. Blend the sweetener until it is fine, fluffy, and powdered. Powdering your sweetener makes for a smoother frosting.
    3. Add the sweetener and flavorings to your bowl and beat slowly until the sweetener is incorporated (go slow to avoid it getting blown into the air)
    4. Once the sweetener is incorporated, beat on high for 2 minute or until fluffy
    5. Use a piping bag ([something like these](https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Pastry-Weetiee-Reusable-Decorating/dp/B0722Q7SHD/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=icing+piping+bag&qid=1564515082&s=home-garden&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1)) to pipe the frosting onto whatever you’d like (including directly into your mouth!).
    6. Enjoy! Keep any icing in an airtight container in your fridge. If refrigerated, they should be good for about a week. (up to 3 months if kept in the freezer)

McCormick also has CAKE BATTER flavored extract! Been using in my crepe filling and chaffles

  6. PrincessBabyMuffin dedi ki:

If you don’t like the tanginess in cream cheese icing, try subbing mascarpone. It gives the icing really nice structure and richness, without really tasting “cheesy”.

Yo! You rock, I just got some swerve sweets cake mix and had no idea what I was going to do about frosting!

  8. bryanrobh dedi ki:

I am sorry which sweetener are we talking about here? I don’t know one that actually dissolves when mixed

  9. OhNoCosmo dedi ki:

These look amazing! I make something similar only I use a little less powdered sweetener and add flavored Stevia drops. The coconut one and the berry one make for awesome frostings!

  10. qawsedrf12 dedi ki:

    thank you

finally someone acknowledges the aspect of powdered sweetener

I have recently found that adding sugar free Torani or Jordan’s Skinny syrups to frosting recipes can make some amazing flavored frosting too. They can definitely be combined with the powdered Swerve/Lakanto/whatever other powdered sweetener, so it would just be a simple addition to the recipe already posted. You can combine with the extracts too, but it might cause too strong of a flavor for some. Personally, I like the stronger flavor so use both the extracts and the syrups.

I made a pumpkin spice frosting with Jordan’s Skinny syrup by essentially using these base ingredients plus 1 tablespoon Simply Organic pumpkin spice mix and 4 tablespoons of Jordan’s Skinny Pumpkin Spice syrup.

You can make a decent low carb vanilla or chocolate icing with a similar ratio of butter (I prefer clarified butter/ghee) to heavy whipping cream instead of cream cheese, and some protein powder for thickness and extra flavor. Haven’t tried lemony icing yet, probably will now.

Does Keto frosting hold up well like your general cream cheese or buttercream frosting? I want to try my hand at cake decorating, but I’m worried the frosting won’t be the right consistency

As someone who is allergic to dairy, anyone have an alternative to cream cheese? Just ripe avocados?
